Dave Grohl Reflects on Emotional AC/DC Performance

In a recent interview, Dave Grohl opened up about the emotional experience of performing with legendary rock band AC/DC. The Foo Fighters frontman joined the Aussie rock icons on stage last month during two shows, filling in for The Pretty Reckless, who had to cancel their appearance.

Grohl recalled the moment vividly, particularly during their performance of “Highway To Hell” at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. He described how the presence of his wife on the side of the stage added to the intensity of the experience, leading him to break down in tears after the performance. He expressed that it was a significant moment in his life, one that he will always remember.

Reflecting on his early influences, Grohl mentioned how watching AC/DC’s 1980 documentary, “Let There Be Rock,” as an 11-year-old shaped his understanding of rock music. He was struck by the raw energy and passion displayed by the band, realizing that this was the kind of performer he aspired to be. Grohl noted that he had never seen anyone give so much of themselves on stage, which fueled his desire to pursue a career in music.

The Foo Fighters are gearing up for their upcoming stadium tour in Australia, which kicks off this week. Following their Australian dates, they will also perform in New Zealand, India, and South America, continuing their global presence in the rock scene.

With a packed schedule ahead, Grohl’s emotional encounter with AC/DC serves as a reminder of the deep connections and inspirations that drive artists in the music industry.
