Gojira’s Joe Duplantier Joins Cult Of Luna on New Track

In an exciting collaboration, Joe Duplantier, the frontman of Gojira, has contributed his powerful vocals to a new single by the Swedish post-metal band Cult Of Luna. The track, titled “Sadness Will Reign,” was released today as part of the band’s promotional efforts for their upcoming album, In The Shadow Of Your Shadow, set to drop this Friday.

This latest single marks the fourth release from the anticipated album, showcasing a blend of heavy metal riffs and intense vocal exchanges between Duplantier and Cult Of Luna’s singer and guitarist, Johannes Persson. Fans can expect a five-minute journey of dense sound that highlights the unique strengths of both artists.

While Duplantier’s collaboration with Cult Of Luna offers fans a taste of his vocal prowess, Gojira is currently in the studio working on their eighth album, which follows their critically acclaimed 2021 release, Fortitude. Although drummer Mario Duplantier mentioned last year that a new album might arrive in 2026, the timeline appears uncertain as the band takes the necessary time to ensure their next project is both fresh and impactful.

Gojira has been busy touring since the release of Fortitude, sharing the stage with major acts like Metallica and Korn, and headlining various festivals, including the upcoming Bloodstock Open Air in 2025. In 2024, they also debuted a new song, “Mea Culpa,” during the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games.

Currently, Gojira has just two live performances scheduled, both supporting System Of A Down at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on June 10 and 12. Meanwhile, Cult Of Luna is gearing up for a European tour to promote their new album, kicking off in Lausanne, Switzerland, on February 26, and wrapping up in Prague, Czech Republic, on March 13. Their UK performance will take place at the O2 Forum Kentish Town in London on March 6.

In addition to Duplantier’s guest appearance, In The Shadow Of Your Shadow will also feature David Eugene Edwards from 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand on the track “One More Day.” Cult Of Luna has a history of collaborating with notable artists, including Mark Lanegan and Julie Christmas, making this new album a highly anticipated release for fans.
