In an exciting development for metalcore fans, former Killswitch Engage members Adam Dutkiewicz and Howard Jones have launched their new band, Burn Eternal. The duo has released their debut single, “Wounds I’ve Made,” marking their first collaborative effort since 2012 and their first new music since 2019.
The single is part of their upcoming self-titled album, set to drop on February 26 via Metal Blade Records. Pre-orders for the album are now available, and fans can also check out the accompanying music video for the single.
Jones describes “Wounds I’ve Made” as a reflection on personal growth, acknowledging past mistakes while emphasizing the importance of moving forward. He notes that change can be painful but is essential for self-improvement. Dutkiewicz, who co-founded Killswitch Engage in 1999, expressed excitement about finally releasing the track, revealing that it was one of the first songs he wrote for Burn Eternal six years ago.
The formation of Burn Eternal was officially announced last month, alongside their signing with Metal Blade Records. Jones first hinted at their studio sessions earlier this year, sharing updates on social media about their progress. By December, he confirmed that vocal recordings had been completed, and the album was mixed shortly thereafter.
Both musicians have a storied history with Killswitch Engage, where they produced several influential albums and hits such as “My Curse” and “The End Of Heartache.” Jones left the band in 2012 due to personal challenges but has since made guest appearances, including a collaboration on the 2019 single “The Signal Fire.” Meanwhile, Killswitch Engage continues to tour and released their latest album, “This Consequence,” last year.
As fans eagerly await Burn Eternal’s debut album, the release of “Wounds I’ve Made” sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting new chapter for both Dutkiewicz and Jones.
