UTEP Announces 2015 Football Schedule

EL PASO – The UTEP Miners released their 2015 football schedule in conjunction with Conference USA on Monday.

Coming off a 7-6 campaign and berth in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl, the Miners will play fivehome games, seven road games and battle a challenging non-conference slate.

“We’re excited about our 2015 football schedule, as we look to build on the momentum generated from a winning season,” said UTEP Director of Athletics Bob Stull.  “While there are only five home games, there is an opportunity for fans to see a couple more at NM State and Texas Tech, both driving distance from El Paso.  The obligation to return games at Arkansas and Texas Tech gave us less flexibility in scheduling this year.  The good news for our fans is that we will have seven home games in 2016 as we continue to build the program under coach Sean Kugler.”

The Miners will open the season with three consecutive road games — Arkansas (Sept. 5), Texas Tech (Sept. 12) and NM State (Sept. 19) — for the first time since 1985 and third occasion in program history. The Miners had four straight road games to start the year in 1964 and three in a row in 1985. UTEP will kick off its non-conference schedule against the Razorbacks (7-6, 2-6 SEC), who took on eight ranked opponents in 2014 and capped the season with an Advocare V100 Texas Bowl victory over Texas.

The Miners will open the home schedule against Incarnate Word (Sept. 26). UTEP will also play host to C-USA foes UTSA (Oct. 3), Florida Atlantic (Oct. 24), Rice (Nov. 7) and LA Tech (Nov. 21). Both the Owls and Bulldogs played in a bowl game this past season.

UTEP was 5-1 at home last year, including a perfect 4-0 in conference play at the Sun Bowl.

UTEP will have four C-USA road games in 2015 – FIU (Oct. 10), Southern Miss (Oct. 31), Old Dominion (Nov. 14) and North Texas (Nov. 28).

UTEP will alternate home and away games throughout the C-USA portion of its schedule.

The Miners have a bye at the midway point of the schedule on Oct. 17.

Season tickets and prices will be released and go on sale for the 2015 season on Monday, Feb. 9 at 8 a.m. MT. Football season ticket renewal invoices will go out in mid-March. For more information or to purchase season tickets, please call the UTEP SeasonTicket Office at (915) 747-6150.
